Attic Insulation

Heat rises, and in an under-insulated house, it rises straight out through the roof. Proper attic insulation keeps winter heat in, summer heat out, and is the upgrade with the most noticeable day-to-day difference.

Massachusetts winters make attic insulation the highest-impact improvement for most homes. It also helps prevent ice dams, protects your roof deck, and takes strain off your heating system. Mass Save incentives cover 75 to 100% of the cost for approved projects.

Signs your home needs it

  • Ice dams or big icicles along the roof edge in winter
  • Second floor too hot in summer, too cold in winter
  • Furnace running constantly on cold days
  • Existing insulation below the top of the attic floor joists

What we do

  • Measure current insulation levels (R-value) during the assessment
  • Air-seal the attic floor before insulating, the right order matters
  • Install cellulose or fiberglass to program-recommended R-value
  • Insulate and weather-strip the attic hatch, add ventilation baffles

What the Mass Save program covers

Approved attic insulation projects receive 75 to 100% off through Mass Save, depending on eligibility. Income-eligible households may qualify for 100% coverage.

Rebates and incentives are provided through the Mass Save program and subject to eligibility and program terms.

Common questions

How much can I save on the project?
The program currently covers 75 to 100% of approved insulation costs. We calculate your exact number during the no-cost assessment, before you commit to anything.
How messy is the installation?
We protect floors and stairways, contain the work area, and clean up completely. Most attics are done in one day.
Which material do you use?
Usually blown-in cellulose or fiberglass, chosen for your attic's layout and the program's specifications. We explain the recommendation in plain language.
