What Are Designated Equity Communities (DECs)?

DECs are neighborhoods identified by the Commonwealth for enhanced energy-efficiency benefits due to higher energy burdens and historic barriers to upgrades. Residents can qualify for 100% coverage on approved insulation and air sealing after a Home Energy Assessment (HEA).

Important: Some ZIP codes overlap with areas that are not DECs. For example, Longmeadow (01106) and Acushnet (02743) are not DEC communities. Eligibility is determined by street address, not ZIP code alone.
