Air Sealing

The average home leaks enough air through small gaps to fill it several times a day. Air sealing closes those gaps, around pipes, wiring, attic hatches, rim joists, so the air you paid to heat or cool stays inside.

Air sealing is one of the most cost-effective energy improvements a home can receive, which is why it is typically covered at 100% through the Mass Save program after a qualifying assessment. Completing it before insulation also allows the insulation to perform as designed.

Signs your home needs it

  • Drafts near outlets, baseboards or the attic hatch
  • Rooms that never hold their temperature
  • Dust building up quickly, or musty smells moving between floors
  • Heating and cooling use that keeps climbing

What we do

  • Locate leaks with a room-by-room inspection
  • Seal penetrations around plumbing, wiring and ductwork
  • Weather-strip attic hatches and rim joists
  • Verify results and document everything for the rebate

What the Mass Save program covers

Air sealing is typically performed at no cost to the homeowner through Mass Save, following a no-cost home energy assessment.

Rebates and incentives are provided through the Mass Save program and subject to eligibility and program terms.

Common questions

Is air sealing really no-cost?
For most eligible homes, yes, the program covers 100% of recommended air sealing after a qualifying no-cost energy assessment. We confirm your eligibility before any work begins.
Will my house feel stuffy afterwards?
No. We seal to program standards that keep healthy ventilation levels. The goal is controlled fresh air instead of random leaks.
How long does it take?
Most homes are completed in a few hours, on the same visit as other weatherization work when possible.
