Basement & Wall Insulation

Cold floors usually start in the basement, and chilly rooms usually start inside empty walls. Insulating these forgotten areas evens out your home's temperature from bottom to top.

Uninsulated basement walls and rim joists are a major source of heat loss and cold floors. Dense-packed wall insulation also cuts street noise noticeably. Like attic work, these projects qualify for 75 to 100% coverage through Mass Save.

Signs your home needs it

  • Cold floors on the first level all winter
  • Walls that feel cold to the touch
  • A basement that's frigid in winter and damp in summer
  • High heating use despite a newer furnace or boiler

What we do

  • Insulate rim joists and basement walls to program specs
  • Dense-pack exterior walls through small, patched openings
  • Address air leaks in the band joist area
  • Document everything for your Mass Save rebate

What the Mass Save program covers

Approved basement and wall insulation qualifies for 75 to 100% off through Mass Save, with 100% available for income-eligible households.

Rebates and incentives are provided through the Mass Save program and subject to eligibility and program terms.

Common questions

Do you have to open my walls?
For dense-pack insulation we drill small openings that are plugged and patched afterwards, no full wall demolition.
Will it help with moisture?
Insulation plus air sealing reduces condensation and drafts. If we find an active water problem, we'll tell you honestly before insulating.
Is the basement worth insulating if I don't use it?
Yes, the floor above it is only as warm as the basement below. Rim joist insulation alone often makes a noticeable difference.
